Schubert Works
One of Alex Klein's first recordings after joining the Chicago Symphony as Principal Oboe contained various works by Franz Schubert.
Perhaps the greatest contribution by Franz Schubert to classical music is his approach to the "song", the "lied", the way music flows as a chant. The Arpeggione Sonata is no exception and it fits into the oboe experience through that same singing approach.
Although Alex Klein used an oboe with an extension to low-A for his recording the enclosed arrangement does not demand it.
